Out and About
WALKING
We are surrounded by a network of footpaths and bridleways, so we’re the perfect base for a walking/cycling holiday. We can also arrange guided walks with our charismatic qualified ecologist guide.
You can walk to Westcott across the fields or follow the footpaths into nearby Dorking or cross a single track lane onto Leith Hill.
We can recommend some good walks where you can stop for lunch on the way (The Plough Inn in Coldharbour, Wotton Hatch, Wotton or Stephen Langhton, Friday Street.
We recommend below routes:
- SHY to Wotton (Wootton Hatch Pub) 25 min walk.
- SHY - Wotton - Friday Street (Stephen Langhton Pub) 50min walk.
- SHY to Coldharbour (The Plough Inn Pub) - Leith Hill viewing point (1hour 20min)
CYCLING
A huge cycle network surrounds us so bring your bike and explore this Outstanding Area of Natural Beauty. We can also arrange for you to hire a bike from a local cycling company prior to your arrival. The new Westcott to Dorking cycle route is also now open. Visit the Mole Valley Cycle forum for the latest information on cycling in the area. We can arrange for a bicycle hire from our local bicycle hire shop prior to your arrival.
HEAVY HORSE SKILLS AND RIDES
Learn traditional skills such as carriage driving lesson.
Heavy horse and carts ride via the woods to the Coldharbour Pub (6 or 12 people wagon)
WILLOW WEAVING
experience half / full day willow weaving course with local crafts lady.
ARCHERY COURSES
for small parties or groups, friendly fun lessons. Available from the end of April.
ANTIQUES HUNT
West Street in Dorking is the place to be if you love antiques. Spend an afternoon dipping in and out of each shop, trying to find a bargain before stopping at one of the local tearooms.

We are based in walking proximity to Denbies Vinyard, Dorking ( indoor wine tours and outdoor vineyard tours) https://www.denbies.co.uk and Albury Organic Vineyard, Albury (finest quality organic sparkling and rose wines from vines grown exclusively in the Surrey Hills) www.alburyvineyard.com. Both of the vineyards offer wine tours and tastings.
